Macau - Where East meets West & World Cultural Heritage
Location
Macau is located in the Pearl River delta, on the south-eastern coast of China, some 40 miles from Hong Kong. The territory has around half million population and a total area of 21 square km, comprising a peninsula and the islands of Taipa and Coloane.
Historic Centre
Having been a cross of East and West for more than 400 years, Macau offers to the visitors a unique blend of cultures that is patent in its architectural heritage, cultural environment and cuisine: within easy reach are centuries old churches and forts, world class hotels, a cultural centre and galleries, antiques shops, a diversified gastronomy, several casinos and one of the best golf courses in Asia. The Historic Centre of Macau has been listed as World Cultural Heritage by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) since July 2005.
Access to Macau
The Macau International Airport adjoins the islands of Taipa and Coloane and provides direct flights to several major Asian cities ( Beijing , Shanghai , Seoul , Taiwan , Manila ) and connections to many destinations across the world. Since 2003, the budget air line, AirAsia, provides low fares flight routines between Macau , Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur . In 2004, another budget airline, the Tiger Airway, was launched to provide services between Macau and Singapore and Philippines too. More low fair air lines will be launched in the second half of year 2006, accessing to more destinations in the regions.
Travelling between Macau and Hong Kong is also easy thanks to a fleet of high-speed ferries working round the clock (1 hour trip) and helicopters (15 min.). You may take ferry either at the Hong Kong Macau Ferry Terminal in Shang Wan (departures at every 15 minutes or 30 minutes, 20 operating hours daily) or the Sky-Pier counter at the international airport in Hong Kong that provides convenient ferry service (4 – 6 departures for Macau daily) before passing the Custom of Hong Kong.
Ticket fairs and schedules are available on the links:

Guangzhou ( Canton ), Shengzhen, Zhuhai and other cities in south China are easily reached by bus or ferry services.
A Standing Point in South East Asia
Should you plan a trip in East Asia and China during summer vocation in 2006, you should take this opportunity to experience Macau as World Cultural Heritage, to widen and deepen your professional knowledge on the WTO and to explore the cities of South East China and others in the regions. The Academy of International Trade Law will be an optimal choice for you.
