Academy of International Trade Law
AITL 2008
The Academy of International Trade Law , based in Macau and organized by the Institute of European Studies of Macau since year 2000, aims at providing education and training at the highest international standard on the law of international trade, the WTO and selected issues of regional integration regimes such as the NAFTA, EU, Mercosur and ASEAN. The course takes place during two weeks in July and follows a model similar to the Academy of European Law , in Florence , and to the Academy of International Law , in The Hague . Its teachers are invited from the leading experts in the world. The Academy fills a gap in international legal education and, although especially devised for governmental staff, particularly in Asian countries, it also provides a unique opportunity of high-level trainingin the law of international trade to young scholars and lawyers at large.

IPL 2008
The IEEM has been organizing annually since 2000 a seminar on IP issues. Every year distinguished speakers from around the world are invited to speak on topics that are in the forefront of the IP debate, their papers being published afterwards in book form.
Following the success of the IP seminars, an IP summer course was started in 2004. The aim is to bring a small but reputed group of lecturers to Macau to teach our students the fundamentals of IP. Classes are held in the morning and afternoon and a particular emphasis is given to practical learning, with several mock trials taking place during the course. |

Course on Heritage Law and Regulations
HLR 2007
Macao is a unique place under a Heritage point of view. As well, Macao has a great expertise on dealing with the Conservation of Heritage that makes the Territory a work field for Institutions from other territories. In Macau several sites have been classified as World Heritage by UNESCO and a Rehabilitation Programme is going on, considering sites and buffer zones. It would be interesting and useful to increase the knowledge and expertise in this field either through lectures by UNESCO or analyzing a rehabilitation case study of a successful project.

General Course on
Foreign Direct Investment
FDI 2005
This zone of the world is characterised by intensive flows of capital. Macao, with the liberalisation of the gambling industry, is attracting a huge amount of FDI. FDI has impacts both in the home country and the host country. In this sense, the International Legal framework, under the WTO, is important to take under analysis. Simultaneously, countries have their own laws and regulations. The enforcement of the laws is rather important in as far as disputes may occur either in relation to the international or national frameworks.
This course is organised in cooperation with the International Law Office (GADI)
