RESULT FOR EUROPE DAY 2008 POSTER COMPETITION

THEME: "EUROPE AND MACAU : CREATING A GREENER WORLD TOGETHER"

The EIC-Macau, in cooperation with the Institute of European Studies of Macau, has launched a poster design campaign in May to celebrate the Europe Day this year. The theme of the Campaign is in line with the growing concern of the European Commission in preserving a green environmental for the world. The Campaign was closed on 15 th July and we have received a total of 37 qualified pieces of work.

Cultural Heritage Studies and Tourism Program 2008-2009

The Institute of European Studies of Macao (IEEM) and the Institute for Tourism Studies, Macao (IFT) are pleased to announce that the new program intake for 2008-09 (8th intake) of the Advanced (Higher) Diploma Program (ADP) on Cultural Heritage Studies and Tourism is now open for admission applications. The program is jointly organized and offered by IEEM and IFT.

The ADP is a one-year evening part-time program consisting of three coursework modules. Completion of all three modules will lead to the award of "Advanced (Higher)Diploma in Cultural Heritage Studies and Tourism." Completion of each of the three individual coursework modules leads toward the intermediate awards of (1) Certificate in Cultural Heritage and Tourism, (2) Certificate in Cultural and Art Studies, or (3) Certificate in Socio-cultural Studies.

This unique program aims to develop in its participants a broad knowledge and understanding of local and regional culture, history, art, and other manifestations of cultural heritage, and blends such classical knowledge with the professional aspects of planning, developing, and managing cultural heritage resources for recreational, educational, and tourism purposes. Successful participants earn a professional qualification to work in cultural, art, heritage and tourism organizations. The entire program is conducted in English and to be admitted, participants should already have a Bachelor's degree.

The program is best suited for professionals working or involved in:
• Arts, cultural, museum, and heritage organizations
• Hospitality, tourism, leisure and travel related or travel services establishments
• Educators and teachers involved in the design and development of tourism- and/or social, cultural, and heritage programs
• Recent graduates wishing to gain qualifications in either tourism or heritage related fields

The program also welcomes in-service or qualifying tour guides (subject to meeting admissions requirements) and other individuals who wish to obtain certificates in the individual modules.
